It was a sad sad day when we learned one of our favourite Comedian-actor Robin Williams passed away (tears).
Robin died of what is now suspected to be suicide speculated to have been caused by depression,it seems Mr Williams has been battling depression for some time but could there have been an extra element that made him decide he was no longer for this world?
In a statement released on Thursday by Robin’s Widow, Susan Schneider she disclosed her late husband had been battling with an early onset of Parkinson’s disease.
Parkinson's disease is a known progressive disorder of the nervous system that influences one’s body movement. Progression of the disease develops gradually, usually with barely noticeable tremors in one hand. Parkinson’s disease is associated with the degeneration of the basal ganglia area of the brain and a deficiency of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which controls the brain's reward and pleasure centres.
This can be a physically draining condition as evidenced by the constant fatigue suffered by those afflicted with it, so its not so far stretched to assume it also has a detrimental effect on one’s mental health. According to the National Parkinson’s Foundation, up to 60 percent of patients experience severe depressive symptoms.
We do not know if this was the extra element that pushed Robin Williams to his decision but however it goes… the world has lost an amazing talent and person and we can only wonder how his family are handling his loss.
To the family of Mr Robin Williams; Please accept our belated condolences.
